| BSkyB appeals Competition ruling
The TV recording site TVCatchup.com has had its service suspended after complaints from the BBC, Channel 4, ITV and Channel Five. TVCatchup launched in trial last year, allowing users to record offline TV shows, watch them online and share copies with other members. The UK-focused site immediately attracted the concern of broadcasters, which have invested millions of pounds in their own web TV catch-up services. A note posted on the site over the weekend said the web hosting company terminated the TV service on February 15, and that management assumed this was as a result of requests from broadcasters. Back to top Q4 in Latin America for DirecTV DirecTV Latin America achieved net subscriber additions of 199,000 in the quarter, a jump the company attributed to strong customer growth in Brazil, Venezuela and Argentina.
Some Thoughts on Gay Marriage
See http://www.fordham.edu/halsall/pwh/bosrev-wilken.h... for a great summary. Jesus still defines sin as lack of love (Matthew 22:36-40). Those concerned about the sanctity of marriage should insist on outlawing adultery, divorce and abortion. All are sinful because each has an unloved victim. Marriage must be for love, not pregnancy. What is unloving about a couple in a homosexual love relationships? Neither is victim, neither is unloved. Where is the hurt? Who is the victim being sinned against? The Gospel writers and prophets do not mention homosexuality because it is not a sin. The King James Version comes closest to a correct translation of two condemning nouns used in Leviticus 18:22 — "sexual immorality". That is not necessarily homosexuality. ("Homosexual" was coined about 1865, so any translation using a form of that word is a lie that needs to be emended.

The Balkans' moment of truth
Serbia's destiny is in Europe and Belgrade should be on the cusp of membership in the European Union and NATO. Tragically, it is not. Some of the country's leaders seem determined to sabotage its future. Belgrade's recent decision to reject a deal with the European Union that would have provided Serb citizens with trade and travel benefits on the grounds that it would have meant capitulation on Kosovo was unconscionable. So is its failure to extradite fugitive war criminals. Serbia's people and especially its leaders must view Kosovo's independence as an opportunity to re-evaluate their country's course rather than as an excuse for more self-inflicted failure. Russia has taken full advantage of the failings of Serbia's leadership. In what seems to be a reward for Moscow's obstructionism at the United Nations, Kremlin-controlled energy giant Gazprom is purchasing a majority stake in Serbia's oil monopoly at a small fraction of its market value.
Friday Updates
As I blogged about here earlier today, it's a big day in the fight against breast cancer. We just learned that Genentech's Avastin drug, already used to fight some cancers, has now been approved, by the FDA, to treat breast cancer. Breast cancer advocates are very happy about the decision, which helps to clear the way for another weapon in the battle against breast cancer and also puts money into the pockets of Genentech (DNA) investors. Already a big moneymaker for the company, Avastin now has another big market to try and conquer. There's still a ways to go before Avastin can prove that it's a sure-shot way to beat breast cancer, but today's FDA ruling means it's well on its way. We'll keep you posted as the Bay Area's biggest biotech company continues to do well, by doing good.
InternetPerils' New Net Can Catch Phishers
InternetPerils exposes a cluster of phishing servers that operated for months undetected. InternetPerils' products identify phishing clusters so targets of phishing, including banks and consumers, can act by contacting the ISP hosting the cluster, or by contacting law enforcement agencies. Austin, TX (PRWEB) October 19, 2006 -- InternetPerils, Inc., a leading provider of automated products for Internet Business Risk Management, today announced it has exposed a cluster of phishing servers operating from an ISP based in Germany. InternetPerils' analysis shows such clusters can infest unsuspecting ISPs for weeks or months. Free access to an animated GIF of the cluster over time, plus analysis, is available at http://www.internetperils.com/perilwatch/20060928.php with registration.

There is no doubt that it is a major advantage to be a black conservative in politics, business, talk radio and a number of other professions. White people have come to open themselves up to black success, black intelligence, and black congeniality. Observing America and the world in 2006-07, it would be Pollyannaish to say that racial prejudice was defeated, any more than terrorism or drugs have been defeated. But the world is a vastly different place today, and if one studies the subject hard enough, they might not find any place like the American South in the 37 years that span 1970 to 2007. Southern sportswriters have there take on the evernt, whether it be Allen Barra, Keith Dunnavant, or the Birmingham Post-Herald's Bill Lumpkin, who in response to recent books and movies depicting the event wrote, "I'm sure the abundance of Alabama fans in the Legion Field crowd of 72,157 left the game that night saying to themselves: We've got to have a Sam Cunningham.
